Today I was reading my facebook page, and I saw a post from Danny, our nephew. He got a new laptop, with itouch, now I know I am all of 27 years old but what the heck is an itouch. So I asked Danny - what is an itouch, he told me its some kind of ipod. Now I am still not on the ipod train, but I dont knock those who are, but really is it necessary to carry around 5,000 of your favorite songs in your pocket, or in your phone for goodness sakes? Anyhow, apparently Danny's itouch can "go on the Internet and get all kinds of apps and stuff." He then told me that his Internet at home wasnt working, so he was at McDonalds using his new computer. So I asked him to get me a quarter pounder with cheese (no pickles) and teleport it to me with his new itouch, since i am SURE there is an app for that! Of course he responded there is not, but I am sure apple is working on that.
This reminds me of a few other stories: this weekend when my family was in town we were outside sitting around the firepit in the evening, and Logan was sleeping in his room. My mom asked if i had a monitor on. Being the allstar mom that I am i said "nah hes fine." This is when Casey (Danny's sister) says wouldnt it be cool if there was a iphone with a baby monitor on it. I dont know if i need to say it again but I will anyway: Please tell me why it is necessary to have in your pocket a phone/boombox/baby monitor!
My last story about the "i" world is this, about a year ago I was talking to Ryan and this craze, when I said "I dont know what the big deal is with the ipod when i was a teenager I had a walkman that had am/fm radio and could play TAPES!" To me that is still better, but to todays teenagers I guess the ability to listen to songs, watch last night's episode of House, and make babysitting easier by not having to get up and check on a sleeping child is better then having the "autoflip" option!
